Puppy Guardians
We believe every dog deserves to live as a loved family member, which is why we carefully place some of our breeding dogs in guardian homes. This allows them to enjoy a normal family life while still being part of our breeding program.
What is a Guardian Home?
A guardian home is a permanent family for one of our breeding dogs. While we retain full breeding rights for a set period of time, the dog lives with you as your family pet.
Moms remain in our breeding program for three litters. They come back to our home for whelping and nursing which is usually about six-seven weeks, once or twice a year. We stay connected with our families via video calls and in person visits. This is a great way for families to experience puppies without all the work! This also works very well for people who like to travel, as vacations can be planned around whelping time.
Dads remain in our program for five years. We borrow your boy for an hour or two a few times a year for breeding purposes.
What Does It Cost?
There is typically no cost for the puppy or dog placed in a guardian home, aside from normal day-to-day pet expenses (food, grooming, vet care not related to breeding). We cover all breeding-related costs.
Who Can Be a Guardian?
We are looking for responsible, loving families who:
- Provide a safe and secure home environment (own your home)
- Feed high-quality raw food and follow basic care guidelines
- Are willing to work with us for breeding and health testing appointments
- Live within 1-2 hours of the greater Vancouver area (so transportation is easy)
What Happens After Breeding?
Once the dog has completed his or her breeding career, we will spay or neuter them at our expense, and they will officially be yours to keep forever.
